A Family on Mission

Catch The Fire Toronto East is a healthy, multi-ethnic, multi-generational, community-focused church planted in Toronto East. We are fruit of the glorious Outpouring of the Holy Spirit that began here in Toronto in January 1994. As with all Catch The Fire churches, we specialize in ministering the revelation of God as a Loving Father, whom we know through Jesus Christ.

We’re all about Connecting people to God and each other; Equipping them for life and ministry; Releasing them to make an impact on their spheres of influence.

At Catch The Fire Church in Toronto East, we expect signs and wonders to follow the preaching of the Word. We place a high value on raising leaders in order to equip the body of Christ to minister in the power of the Holy Spirit, while being rooted and grounded in the truth of the Scriptures and the Father’s love.

Our belief is that you were born to carry God’s presence and lead people into encounters with God. We want to partner with you in your healing, growth, and outreach as you grow in your faith and step into all that God has for you!

What we believe

Our Statement of Faith

We believe there is one God who lives forever in three persons; the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matt. 28:19)
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word to the world, speaking to us with authority and without error. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
We believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ the Son, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His death for us on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the Father, and His personal, physical return to rule the earth in power and love. (Jn. 1:14-18; 1 Thess. 4:16-18)
We believe that the primary purpose for Jesus Christ’s life on earth was to fully reveal the love of God the Father for the people of this world through His ministry, life, death on the cross and resurrection. (Jn. 3:16; Jn. 5:19-20)
We believe that all mankind is lost in sin and needs to turn from it and trust personally in the Saviour, Jesus Christ; all need to be born anew by the Holy Spirit’s power into God’s family. (Eph. 2:1-10; Jn. 3:5-7)
We believe the Holy Spirit lives in us as believers and brings love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control into our lives. He works in and through us with His charismatic gifts. (Gal. 5:22-23; 1Cor. 12:7-11)
We believe in the resurrection of every person; to eternal life for the believer and eternal punishment for the unbeliever. (Matt. 25:31-46; Rev.20:10-15; Matt 7:21-23)
We believe in unity for all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and seek community together. We want to become more like Him in every way, who is the head of His body, the Church. We are called to love Him and one another and are enabled to do this only as His life flows in and through us. (1 Cor. 12:12-13; Matt. 22:37-40)
We believe that marriage is the basic human relationship between one man and one woman, and as such is intended to reflect the relationship between Jesus Christ the Bridegroom and His bride the church. (Gen. 2:18-25, Eph. 5:25-32)

What to Expect

What you Should know Before you Visit us

Our meetings generally go for about an hour and a half. The Lord inhabits the praises of his people; we really value his Presence, so we give lots of time to worshipping God with live music and meaningful lyrics projected onto a screen so we can sing along. We also highly value the preaching of God’s word, so we give an equal amount of time to teaching biblical content with real, personal application and examples.

We love the truth that God is our Father, so when we gather we do so with respect but also in a relaxed manner. People have the freedom to meet with God and this looks differently for each person. Some people have rich feasts in the Spirit without any overt signs. Others groan, laugh, cry or fall to the ground as they connect with Holy Spirit in a deep way. We make room for the Holy Spirit to lead our meetings and we give each other grace to experience God’s presence uniquely.

Most of our meetings include a “ministry time” where trained and trustworthy teams pray for those in need. We pray prayers of encouragement, blessing and healing – for body, soul and spirit. It is something that sets us apart as a church, because we want to give lots of space for the Holy Spirit to move in our hearts.

As we meet together, we do so in the Father’s living room, not at a formal dinner! There is no dress code. People are from various walks of life and ethnic backgrounds. Visitors have often remarked about the atmosphere of love and graciousness they experience at our meetings. This is a gift from God! He has been so good and kind to us.

The end goal of all this is transformation into the image of Jesus Christ. We want to become more like Jesus! A major way that this happens is as we seek God’s Presence and we have life changing encounters in him.

Ramesh & Elsie

Founding Pastors

Ramesh and Elsie Naraine have been long-time members of Catch The Fire. They worked at the flagship church location in Toronto until they agreed to plant Catch The Fire Toronto East in September 2009. They love to minister transparently, humorously and prophetically using scriptures and sharing their personal stories of encountering God’s transforming presence. They are committed to helping those who are taking the gospel to people and places where Jesus is still unknown.

Kayan & Rachel

Senior Pastors

While Rachel grew up in Canada, Kajan’s home was Switzerland, where they made their home after getting married. It was there, in Switzerland, that they had an amazing Encounter with God that led them to accept God's call to move to Canada. Their passion is to see everyone - especially the Youth and Young Adults - set on Fire as they connect with God, so that they can walk into there Purpose and Destiny! They have 3 beautiful children.

Why do we Exist

We exist to make disciples—by winning souls, fathering them in love, and raising them into maturity in Christ.
